Before you bring it in
- •Spill? Power off, unplug, don't try to "dry it by switching on".
- •Don't reinstall Windows or reset the PC — it overwrites your files.
- •Bring the charger and tell us your login password if the disk is encrypted.
- •Dropped units: keep them powered off; heads may be parked on data.
How your recovery runs

Laptop questions, answered
Rarely. A dead board or screen has nothing to do with your files — we remove the storage and read it directly. Even fire-damaged machines often yield their data.
No — please don't. Bring the whole laptop with its charger. Our technicians disassemble it safely, including glued and soldered ultrabooks.
Recovery comes first, but we can usually fit a fresh SSD and reinstall your OS so you walk out with a working machine. Ask for the revive option at drop-off.
